The Education Specialist in Educational Leadership – Curriculum & Instruction track program from Mississippi College is designed for educators who want to enhance their teaching skills and prepare for instructional leadership roles in their school or school districts. This 100% online program focuses on the professional leadership development of aspiring leaders and is taught by terminally degreed faculty who are practitioners first.
In this accelerated online Ed.S. program, which integrates a Christian worldview into the curriculum, you will develop an understanding of best practices in learner-centered curriculum and instructional design and strategies, effective teaching, program evaluation, student assessment, and teacher professional development. You will also engage in projects and assignments that emphasize the critical-thinking skills needed to shape schools and school systems to meet the diverse needs of all students.
This online curriculum and instruction program is designed to be accessible for working educators, offering multiple start dates, accelerated online coursework and affordable tuition. Prepare to lead effectively as a Teacher Leader, Curriculum Director, Instructional Coordinator, or Curriculum and Instruction Specialist in as few as 12 months.
Upon completion of this 41 credit-hour curriculum & instruction program, students will be able to:

The School of Education admission process has specific requirements that students must meet to enroll in the Education Specialist in Educational Leadership – Curriculum & Instruction track online program. Find out the requirements, what additional materials you should send and where you need to send them.
Admission Requirements:
- Master's Degree
- 3 Letters of Recommendation
- 3 Years of Teaching Experience
Education Specialist in Educational Leadership – C&I track Online Requirements
- Must possess a master's level permanent teaching license. The master's degree and license must be in an area of professional education. A photocopy of the valid license is required.
- Must meet all general requirements for admission to the graduate school at Mississippi College
- No GRE required
- Must have a 3.25 GPA on all prior graduate work
- Must submit School District Verification Form
- Must supply three letters of recommendation from school administrators familiar with applicant's character, scholarship and potential for successful completion of the program. Please have your recommender complete the recommendation form and send to [email protected].
- Must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience on the permanent license (applicant can apply if he/she will have three complete years by start of program). Submit work experience verification form showing your 3 years of teaching experience found here.
- Send all official transcripts from previously attended colleges or universities to the MC Grad Admissions office.

To be prepared while enrolled in first course:
- Prepare a portfolio showing writing sample, letter of communication and examples of leadership experience (in or out of state)
- Entrance interview with program advisor (can be done via Skype/Zoom)
To be maintained during program:
- After 12 hours, must have and maintain a 3.25 GPA in program until completion
- As an exit requirement, must defend research-based project completed during the Ed.S. Program
