General concepts to better serve students from diverse backgrounds in the area of Reading as well as a deeper understanding of the unique causes of reading deficits exhibited by children without a strong literacy foundation.
What is the value of this degree?
The student that completes this degree is better equipped to serve in the profession of education by possessing a more in depth knowledge of skills and strategies needed in the elementary classroom.
Why did you start teaching?
As a ministry to impact the lives of those I teach. Not only to make them better educators and leaders, but to hopefully make them better people by being more reflective and intentional in their decisions.

I did not realize I wanted to be a teacher until after I had obtained two business degrees. However, when I entered the classroom I knew I had found my calling and my ministry.
